How an NHS trust records their level of involvement for members is paramount to managing & retaining your membership base
As a trust you need to identify with communities of interest and understand what type of participants are in a community; being able to acknowledge and recognise that at varying times a person may have several differing levels of relationship with an organisation is paramount to managing and retaining your membership base.
The table below clearly demonstrates the vast and differing levels of involvement for members, from elected member of the board through to a research participant.
An example is Person A, who is a member employed by the NHS and is a donor; requirements will vary greatly from Person C who although is also a member is a patient volunteering in a research programme. The method of communication will need to be altered accordingly for each Person.

The type and level of communication for each individual person needs to be conveyed in differing ways. You need to be aware of the various levels of association that an individual service user has with their organisation. CIS has the facility to record and verify all this information ensuring all correspondence is maintained, targeted and applicable.
